In addition to being a composer and pianist, Michael is also keenly interested in mathematics and philosophy, focusing on abstract fields such as group theory and symbolic logic. As an explorer of the relationships between musical and mathematical elements, he emphasizes these intersections within his compositions and recital programs.
Dreams of a Somnambulist contains contrasting works, from the opus 15 Apothegms to the later sonata Echoes from a Fractured Dimension.
Michael was awarded a gold medal in the 2018 Golden Classical Music Awards and performed at Carnegie Hall on Nov. 3.
He was also awarded 2 Global Music Awards, one as a pianist for Bach's Art of Fugue, and the other as a composer for his album Dreams of a Somnambulist
